I went with this product because it claimed to be quite but this is not the case it makes a vibrating noise and the foam filter that sits inside the unit under the light needs to be cleaned a lot. Rocks get stuck in the fan and slows down the bubbles and starts to make a loud noise ( so you need to put your hand in the tank again). The other thing is that you cannot shut off the lights so if you don't want to drive you fish crazy you need to put plants around it to dim the light in the tank.

We bought this when our old (external) aerator finally gave up the ghost. It's much quieter than our old aerator, provides more than adequate aeration for our 46 gallon tank and the "moonlight" LEDs make for a really nice nightlight (as well as reducing the risk of bumping into the aquarium in the night). A really nice product and very highly recommended.

I bought the Hydor Ario 4 Moonlighting a few weeks ago. It works fine so far. When I was setting it up the air flow/motor stopped working a few times. I twisted and tighted the top of the aerator (not the light) and shock out a few rocks and it works perfectly. No problems. The air bubbles come up in a swirl surrounding a moonlight. It is quite beautiful and has become the center-piece of my tank setup. No, it does not light up the whole tank. (Which is fine for me, because that would stress-out my fish.) It points up with about a 90-110 cone of light. Not very bright except for the center of that cone. It is a WHITE light versus blue. (I usually see blue moonlighting.) My only major problem with the product is that there is no on/off switch for the light. Granted it uses LED lights, but I would like to conserve a few watts of energy during the day.

Lots of air but the LED lights aren't all that bright. I think it might be defective. Does a great job of putting air in the tank.

Thanks to amazon.com I have shopped quite extensively online for almost all my product needs. My month's project of starting up an aquarium turned out to be pretty decent but the purchase of this product leaves much to be desired. Setup and deployment of this product was easy enough and turning it on for the first time was quite spectacular because the aeration was working fabulously. However after only 30 minutes the aeration ceased and instead it acted as all airstones do when they corrode. Not believing my eyes when I returned to inspect its operation, i fiddled around with it and still can not see why it is not working right. I feel the air vaccuum inside but its just not working to the full extent as advertised. I even tried looking up the manufacturer to see if I could find some technical advice but they did not answer my repeated requests. Due to my lackluster short experience with this product and the manufacturer im going to have to give this product a 1 star.
